Fiery Book Deva

Fiery Book Deva, When Modern meets Classic. I'll read anything but westerns and huge memoirs.

Allegiant (Divergent, #3)

Allegiant (Divergent, #3) - Veronica Roth That was just too much. I liked it but pieces didn't flesh together like the other books. Also, the ending was nice. I won't spoil. But, I was happy my favorite character made it to the end.

Prodigy: A Legend Novel

Prodigy - Marie Lu My actual rating is a 3.9, but round it to a 4.

Here is why...

When going into Prodigy, I had such high hopes. I really loved Legend and Marie Lu's writing. She can right amazing action sequences and has an uncanny way of showing June's and Day's emotional torment towards one another. I did enjoy Prodigy, but I felt a tinge of disconnect.

However, it was still very pleasurable to read. Even though, it took me a more time to connect to this book then Legend.

June lacked for me. I loved June more than Day in Legend and here she was so stubborn...Come to think of it that is a major reason for my love of her in the first book. But, with her blatantly just trusting Anden based on what he said. Just didn't make sense. She was sent their to do a job. Yet, she quickly believes the leader of a government that killed her whole family.

I found it quite cliche that her gut instinct ended up being and Razor and the patriots were really hired by the senators. I kind of felt like that was the case. Like how has a high ranking officer secretly leading a huge rebellious group in enemy grounds without repercussions. Like are you joking? I ain't bashing the character of June. But, still loved her.

My shocking parts: Kaede's death. Her death hit me in the feels. I really loved her in this book. She completely changed for me. Her talk with Day while near the colonies hospital just made me love her more. She wanted something to fight for besides money. The sense of a higher person and a greater good made her so much more enjoyable. And her death was so premature. I wanted to read more.

Day having that deadly disease/cancer/obstructive bowel disorder thingy was so heartbreaking. Especially, with him letting June go because of it. I really hope they find a cure for him.

June and Day really do make each other a whole. And this book was really great.

Goodbye, Rebel Blue

Goodbye, Rebel Blue - Shelley Coriell Absolutely love this book. It makes me love those life soul-searching young books. Maybe, I need to load up on those and stray away from Paranormal Romance...Or maybe, baby steps.

Nate and Rebel, are to great characters who go through tons of character development.

The Meeting (Vampire Academy, #1.1)

The Meeting (Vampire Academy, #1.1) - Richelle Mead I truly loved this excerpt. I ain't gonna lie, I lean towards Adrian. But, to see how Dimitri thinks through his perspective is truly liberating. To see how fascinated he was with Rose from the start.

This is the perfect example of love at first sight. Because, he had just saw/met her and already praising her. Sharing at her in wondrous. Loves Dimitrose or Romitri

Also, I am super excited with the pick they choose to play him in the movie. Hopefully, it will be amazing and not like another book movie that just came out.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll After reading Alice's Adventures in wonderland, I have to say that I did enjoy it to a certain extent. Alice In wonderland is one of my all time favorite Disney movie and this was good. However, it did not compare to the movie.

Just I certainly am biased, but I have to admit the book has some defining moments. Like the Mad Hater was beyond a refreshing character. Alice wasn't as annoying as she was in the movie. But, the overall nostalgic feel of the movie always trumps all.

Will Grayson, Will Grayson

Will Grayson, Will Grayson - John Green, David Levithan Will Grayson, Will Grayson happens to be a book. I thoroughly enjoyed because of all the comical aspects. It gives a great message to lgbt youth; as well as, those who are shy. It gives both sides. One Will is gay and the other Will is straight. One is off the radar and the other wants to be off the radar. I love how their personality's are very stagnant until once they meet at Frenchys. I love the ending when Tiny finally gets the recognition he deserves from everyone.

Legend

Legend - Marie Lu Where to begin, I truly did love this peculiar read. At first, I admit, I was hesitant to read Legend. Solely due to the fact that I had already read so many good dystopian books. But, my hesitation quickly turned to elation. I truly loved Legend. I was sitting at the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next.

Best parts, for me, had to be June discovery of how the Republic truly is. To summarize, her strength and growth is stunning. Her love for her brother and day helped her decipher the hints and clues to discover how corrupted the Republic truly is. I have to recommend this book for those who likes romantic young adult books that are not typical cliches.

Insurgent (Divergent)

Insurgent - Veronica Roth Just realized the two books ratings were switched. This books did not appeal to me as the other books did. I just didn't connect with the books as much as the other two. Reviewing this after rereading the first two and Allegiant.

Caleb's betrayal just did me in. He was my favorite character and just like that he become one of my least favorite ones.

Also, Tori at the end for the win. Killing that B.I.T.C.H. She was the defining character of the book.

Side Note, I couldn't stand FourTris's bickering the whole time. From Amity till the end. Seems like Tris just complained to complain the whole time. Getting mad at Tobias for no reason.

Christina during her ignoring and hating Tris portion, I sympathized with. Because, Tris did kill Will. On the other hand, Will was under the serum trying to kill her. But, she could of knocked him out.

Overall, this was my least liked book in the trilogy. Yet, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Divergent

Divergent - Veronica Roth Let me start by saying, that I loved this book. To be noted, I am easily impressed by books. For three reasons: Good Secondary Characters, Ethnic characters with great character development, and a reliable bad guy or bad woman in this case.

I felt like I was actually going through the journey with Tris throughout the book. My absolute favorite part had to be during the paintball scene. To me, that was just an amazing scene. Can't wait for the movie to come out soon.

Tomorrow, When the War Began (The Tomorrow Series #1)

Tomorrow, When the War Began - John Marsden Just finished this book and didn't realized I had previously seen the movie version

Macbeth (Folger Shakespeare Library)

Macbeth - William Shakespeare I read this play in High School and loved it. The defining character in this book is Lady Macbeth. Screw Macbeth. Lady Machbeth is a boss. Only she can pull off crazy like she can.

The witches were devious and amazing. Especially, the misleading prophecies that eventually lead to Macbeth's downfall. With Macduff cutting off his head in battle.

I like how this an example of two of the deadly sins. Pride and Wrath. Loves this play and probably tied with Hamlet as my favorite Shakespearean plays.

Old Man And The Sea (Scribner Classics)

The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway One of my favorite classics. and overall a top book for me personally.

Holes

Holes - Louis Sachar Hole was such a great book for me. It was one of the first books, I legitimately read. I loved how Zero and Stanley's friendship flourishes; as the book progresses, leading to being best pals.

The secondary characters like Kissing Kate Barlow and Armpit were standouts. I loved how Stanley and Zero were the descendants and they completed the task Stanley's ancestor did not completed. Making them no longer unlucky.

I would rate the movie and the book 4.8. Because, the two compliment each other extremely well.
